A spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry responded Saturday to Hamas' terrorist attack, claiming it was "opening a new page in military operations against Israel."
The Iranian foreign ministry also said in a statement that "Hamas' attacks on Saturday are proof of the Palestinians' increased trust in Israel. This operation uses the element of surprise and other combined methods that show the trust of the Palestinian people vis-à-vis the occupiers."
Earlier, Hezbollah announced that it was "monitoring developments in Hamas' operation and in contact with its leaders abroad and in the Gaza Strip." Subsequently, Hamas spokesman Walid Kilani in Lebanon told Al-Jadid TV that "if Israel carries out foolish acts in assassinations outside the Palestinian territories, then the fronts may expand."
Following Hezbollah's announcement that it was in contact with Hamas, the leader of the Christian party of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, sent a veiled message: "The most important thing is not to involve the Lebanese in what they cannot bear. After all the difficult conditions they are experiencing."
