Exactly 50 years and one day after the Yom Kippur War (according to the Gregorian calendar), Israel once again found itself under surprise attack. Its consequences are no less horrifying. You don't have to be a great expert to understand that there was intelligence blindness, and that the IDF was caught extremely unprepared.

The time to find out the default is yet to come. At the moment, what we need to concentrate on is turning defeat into victory, and the way to do that is to transfer the initiative to us and first of all to subdue the enemy. It is not enough to "exact a huge price," as the prime minister said. Under the circumstances forced upon us, as Chief of Staff Dado said during the Yom Kippur War, the enemy's bones must be broken. That is, bring him to his knees until he screams enough, hurt him mercilessly and mow him down brutally. Without the High Court of Justice and without B'Tselem, without containment and without limitation, without proportionality and without mercy. And if the concern is about The Hague, then there are enough volunteers for the craft who will remain in Israel for the rest of their lives.

We have taken all these inhibitions since leaving the Gaza Strip in 2005. They brought us to endless futile rounds against Hamas, and finally to the terrible Simchat Torah war. Now that war has broken out, it must be used to finally break the intolerable balance that the Gaza terrorist organizations have been exerting against us for a decade and a half. It's time to turn the table.
What does this mean in practice? It means returning Gaza to the Stone Age. To kidnap senior Hamas figures and their families. Destroy their magnificent homes, tall buildings, restaurants and promenades in Gaza.

Energy Minister Yisrael Katz took the right step and stopped the Israeli supply of electricity to Gaza, which even in normal times cannot be understood as to why it exists. This line must continue to be exacerbated. In other words, we will not renew electricity until the last of our people is restored, including Avera Mengistu and our fallen soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin. If that doesn't help, the existing power plant in the Gaza Strip must also be bombed.
In addition, ban fishing altogether and demand that the Egyptians close the Rafah crossing and immediately halt all supplies to the Gaza Strip, of any kind, including water and food, until the mothers of Gaza cry out their suffering to the sky. Also, already yesterday, the Hamas headquarters located at Shifa Hospital, or any other location, should have been bombed without any account.

There is no reason and no justification for our people to suffer while their people continue their routine. This is not accepted by any standard. And if the concern is about The Hague, then there are enough volunteers who will agree to stay in Israel for the rest of their lives. Israel is beautiful and important enough for that.
There is no doubt that difficult days and horrific scenes await us. But, unfortunately, in this super-modern age, where everything is recorded in real time, we are doomed to a brutal medieval war. And in war, as in war, we must bite our lips, overcome the shock and pain, and reach a victory that will inflict a stunning blow on the enemy from which it will not be able to rise, a blow that will make it clear to all the players in the region who are now rubbing hands with pleasure, that Israel may have been surprised again, but that at least for the next 50 years no one will deal with it again.
