"Even though we have a family there, Gaza needs to be flattened," a Gazan-Israeli family said in an interview with Sky News after their brother, Amir, 20, was murdered last Saturday in a horrific Hamas attack on Sderot, where they live.
"The terrorists chased him when he went out to buy cigarettes. He couldn't escape—and just like that, they murdered him for no reason. He was a good man who saw a wounded man and tried to help him," said Younes Tanbaras, Amir's 21-year-old brother, who was the last to see him alive.
The family moved to the city about three decades ago, because the father worked for Israelis. All six brothers were born in Israel and speak Hebrew only.

They only found out about Amir's death through a TikTok video they reached through a friend, showing Amir lying dead on the ground. "He had a heart of gold," said his 17-year-old brother, Ibrahim. "God takes the best."
"They have no mercy," Ibrahim added. "They could have shot him once, but no, they shot him several times, even after he was already dead."

The six brothers were born in Israel, but they still have family in Gaza. Still, they have no doubt about the next step Israel should take: "Hamas are murderers and terrorists, we need to eliminate them all. Even though I have family there, Gaza needs to be flattened."
Fearing that more terrorists would infiltrate the city, and also fearing that their neighbors would turn their anger on the situation against them, the family said they had not left their home since last week's incident: "There are still terrorists in the streets, it's dangerous. Life here is not safe."
