On Sunday, the government approved the transfer of additional powers to the socioeconomic cabinet and the appointment of Finance Minister Smotrich as its acting head. Smotrich's expected appointment was first published in Israel Hayom
Smotrich will effectively function as "Prime Minister for Civil Affairs" and will be responsible for issues not directly related to the conduct of the war: caring for families who were harmed, housing solutions for evacuees, education and welfare issues, compensation for businesses, and more. In addition, Ministers Gideon Sa'ar, Hili Tropper, Yoav Kish, Ariel Bosso and Yaakov Margi were added to the committee, and Minister Yifat Shasha Biton was added to the committee as an observer. The person who will coordinate the committee's work will be the Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, Yossi Shelly.

Smotrich is expected to form a small cabinet that will include three or four additional ministers involved in the matter, and together with a representative of the ministers of the state camp to manage these issues.
Meanwhile, tomorrow the Winter Conference will open in the Knesset in the shadow of the war. For the time being, only legislation related to the fighting will be on the Knesset table. Already tomorrow, the legislative process of two laws will begin: postponement of local elections and a law by the Ministry of Environmental Protection that transfers funds to municipalities in the south.
