Livnat, wife of motorcyclist who was run over to death near Udim: "It's shocking, just shocking" • The indictment revealed that the suspect in the act, Israel Haqqq, hit Yehuda with his vehicle after it overtook him • The intentional accident also hit and killed Or Moshe Ben David, who was standing nearby

Three weeks after the car accident near Udim, now defined as a double murder, of Eyal Yehuda and Maor Moshe Ben David, the indictment was filed against the suspect in the act of Israel Haqaq.

Livnat, the wife of motorcyclist Eyal Yehuda (46), reacted with shock to hearing the indictment describing Haqq's actions at the time of the incident. They have two children, and Yehuda has three other children from his first marriage.

The moments leading up to the fatal accident in Odim

"The offending driver committed murder and verified manslaughter," Livnat says painfully. "It's shocking, just shocking. And all this only because he overtook him with the motorcycle. I read the indictment and realized how serious it was. I knew it was serious, but I didn't know how much. I read the indictment and shuddered at what Eyal went through in the last moments of his life. A despicable criminal who saw with no eyes other than to kill him. And for what? About nothing. I believe in the State Attorney's Office that they will do everything so that he will receive the maximum number of years that the law allows. Let it not see the light of day."

In the indictment filed today (Sunday), Haqaq, 35, from Netanya, was charged with the murder of Eyal Yehuda and the murder of Maor Moshe Ben David, 34, from Netanya, who was standing near the pedestrian bridge when Haqaq diverted his vehicle and hit Yehuda's motorcycle.

According to the indictment, the reason for the murder is indirect. Haqaq was annoyed that Yehuda had overtaken him with the motorcycle, so he chased him, caught up with him and ran him over. Yehuda and a cousin were killed instantly. Haqaq fled the scene without trying to help them or call for help, stealing a truck belonging to a driver who had stopped to help. He is also charged with the offence of wantonness.

"More brutal than we thought"

Yehuda's sister, Efrat, said: "After reading the indictment, it turned out that it was more cruel than we thought. We thank the State Prosecutor's Office for choosing to increase the charges against the wrongdoer, who cut off the life of a father of five. We will follow the trial until the defendant is convicted and sent to prison for many years."

If Haqaq is convicted of two counts of murder, he will be sentenced to two life sentences. He faces several more years due to the additional offenses attributed to him, such as abandonment. His lawyer, Shai Levy, said in response: "This is a complex, tragic and unfortunate event. The defendant has no criminal or traffic record. A completely normative person. No drug or alcohol use. The parties will be required to undergo psychiatric evaluation later in the proceedings."
