Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer told Sky News on Tuesday, referring to the day after the war, that "the Palestinians are the ones who will rule Gaza, but I don't know yet who they will be. Whoever won't be in Gaza is Hamas. We will have to erase and eliminate them, not only Hamas' military infrastructure, but end their rule in Gaza. Hopefully the Palestinians will eventually be able to elect a leadership that is committed to peaceful coexistence with Israel, and that also teaches its children to live in peace with Israel and does not demonize Jews and demonize Israel."

Dermer noted that Hamas is committing a double war crime by targeting Israeli civilians and also by using civilians in Gaza as human shields.
Referring to the interviewer's remarks, citing the Palestinian Health Ministry's claim that 10,000 people had died in Gaza, Dermer said he could not confirm that figure and could not provide his own estimate, but noted that Israel had killed 3,000 Hamas terrorists since the beginning of the war.

"We cannot allow such a barbaric act to remain unanswered and we cannot give them immunity with the use of human shields, because what is happening is that they are using human shields to try to turn public opinion against Israel," he said.
