Wörthseeblick still in a deep slumber

Highlights: Wörthseeblick still in a deep slumber. Wörthsee municipal council rejected a development plan for the property in 2018. "We don't see any reason to do so," says branch manager Christa Heintel. Only Mayor Christel Muggent does not want anything to happen to the Wörthysee site, because it lives within the scope of the development plan. "Unaffordable condominiums on prime plots are not what we need," says Mayor Muggent.

In many places in the communities, densification and housing are being created. So far, nothing has happened at the Wörthseeblick in Steinebach, and it should stay that way. "The community is relaxed about this," says branch manager Christa Heintel.

Steinebach – The property with the dilapidated large villa, named after the former Wörthseeblick restaurant, is located in a prime location and only a few steps away from the Wörthsee. It's hard to believe that expensive living space hasn't been created here a long time ago. However, a development plan applies to the property. Its specifications cannot be shaken, even in view of the densification practiced everywhere in the villages. "We don't see any reason to do so," says Christa Heintel. The municipality has also not received any current building enquiries from the owners.

Behind the dilapidated building lies an eventful history. In the 50s, the Wörthseeblick was a well-kept bathing establishment with a beer garden. At the lake, bathers bustled around in front of bathing huts, on old drawings bathing loungers can be seen directly in front of the Wörthseeblick, at the entrance, which is now closed with a gate, there were already tall trees at that time. In the 70s, a cosmetics company operated a holiday home for employees in the Wörthseeblick, and in the 1973s, the CSU had rooms in the Wörthseeblick. From 1984 to <>, the Pilsensee-Wörthsee Fishing Association rented rooms in the Wörthseeblick.

As early as 1930, the house had passed into the possession of the current owners. At that time, the building still stood on Etterschlager land, but it was not until the incorporation in 1972 that the villages of Steinebach, Etterschlag, Walchstadt, Auing and Schluifeld became the municipality of Wörthsee. For many years, the Wörthseeblick was an inn with guest rooms. The last rentals took place until 2011, when the then tenant of the Wörthseeblick gave the rooms to homeless people. However, the building was no longer in good condition at that time, and the district office demanded improvements in fire protection. At that time, the local council had already rejected the construction of residential buildings on the approximately 4200 square meter plot. In 1990, the municipal council had laid down the specifications for the property in a development plan, namely as a "beer garden, restaurant, guesthouse".

Since 2011, the Wörthseeblick has been rotting away. The area is overgrown and locked with padlocks, and the building is now half in ruins. Most recently, the Wörthseeblick was a topic in the Wörthsee municipal council in 2018. By then, the owner and the municipality had at least agreed to plan not only gastronomy on the site, but also residential development. For this purpose, the municipality would also have changed the development plan. Now, however, it was about 18 apartments in the rear area, spread over two, four or an L-shaped building with up to three floors. The front area was then left for the wishes of the community. However, this is under landscape protection. Against the votes of the CSU and the Free Voters, the majority rejected the plan. This was followed by a discussion about whether local councillors, who are restaurateurs in the narrower and broader sense, should be allowed to have a say in this project. You may. Only Mayor Christel Muggenthal does not want to say anything about the Wörthseeblick to this day, because she lives within the scope of the development plan. However, she has already stated elsewhere in a different context: "Unaffordable condominiums on prime plots are not what we need in the village."

At least in public meetings, the Wörthseeblick has not gone any further since then. "We don't have anything for the view of the Wörthsee," confirms Christa Heintel. The Sleeping Beauty slumber of the Wörthseeblick, which is also referred to by many as an "eyesore with a view of the lake", continues.
