The carcass was discovered Sunday morning during the keeper's round. The cultural association of Muslims of Vigneux immediately filed a complaint

An "Islamophobic act marked by cowardice and ignominy". Since Sunday, members of the Muslim community of Vigneux-sur-Seine have been in shock. On the morning of December 24, the caretaker of the mosque on Galilee Street made a gruesome discovery during his rounds. The head and part of the disembowelled body of a wild boar had been hung on a stake in the gate at the back of the religious building.

Alerted to the facts, Saïd Djezri, the legal representative of the cultural association of Muslims in Vigneux, immediately went to the police station in Draveil to file a complaint against X. The day before, when the mosque closed around 20:30 p.m., "no suspicious person" had been seen nearby.

A 'vision of horror' for the faithful

In his statement, the latter stated that he had seen on the CCTV images a vehicle parked at 22:25 p.m. "in the small dirt road at the back of the mosque, along the railway used to serve Port-aux-Cerises". "They stayed for a few minutes to place a boar-type animal carcass on the spikes of the gate," he said. After a few minutes, the vehicle drove off again. »

In a press release, the association denounced "individuals driven by hatred" and a "vision of horror" for the faithful. "We are in the school holidays. Many families take the opportunity to take their children to discover the mosque, says Sofyane Talibi, the association's secretary general. We had to find the words to explain to them why such a show. It is unfortunate that some individuals do not accept difference. And unfortunately, we feel that this type of act is becoming more and more commonplace. »

This is the first time that this mosque has been the victim of such a "desecration". Even if, as Sofyane Talibi confides, anonymous letters have become recurrent. "We shouldn't go to another stage, during a moment of prayer for example," he says. Our mosque, which has existed for more than 20 years, is one of the largest in the department. We talk about peace, citizenship and integration. We regularly organize open days and cultural conferences. We are anchored in various actions in favor of living together, which makes this act even more incomprehensible and despicable in our eyes. »
