The diameter of a watch is less a matter of millimetres than the idea we have of it. This season, the wrists are regaining a sense of proportion. Guided by a taste for classic models, a trend that embraced the renewed interest in the functional minimalism of the 1950s and 1960s and the taste for stylistic flamboyance of the 1970s, watches returned to smaller proportions. A godsend for small wrists, but also for watchmakers wishing to develop unisex models.
