The Knesset Foreign Policy and Information Committee, which is a subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, will hold a discussion tomorrow (Wednesday) on the nature of UNRWA's activities during the "Iron Swords" war.

The discussion will be initiated by committee chairman MK Zeev Elkin (New Hope) following a report in Israel Hayom that at least 20 teachers of the agency expressed support and praise for the massacre carried out by Hamas on Simchat Torah.
Representatives of the Prime Minister's Office, Defense, Justice and Diaspora Ministries were invited to the meeting; As well as representatives from the National Security Council and the Office of the Coordinator of Government Activities in Judea and Samaria. Speakers from the Impact C Institute, which exposed UNRWA's teachers' support for the atrocities, are also expected to arrive.

The purpose of the discussion is to examine Israel's policy towards UNRWA in light of the findings and in light of the agency's problematic history. The first part of the meeting will be open, and the second part will be confidential, so that the defense establishment can freely deploy its position.
MK Zeev Elkin, Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Policy and Public Relations Committee: "UNRWA not only artificially perpetuates the Palestinian refugee problem – with a different policy than the UN applies to refugees in other parts of the world – but also, as we learn again and again, serves as a cover for the activity of terrorist organizations such as Hamas. The State of Israel must establish a clear position regarding UNRWA's continued activity and act within the framework of the current crisis to implement this policy."
