For the past three months, residents of the Gaza envelope have been evacuated from their homes and forced to live in hotels or temporary housing, all in the hope that the fighting by IDF forces in the Gaza Strip will create a different reality and remove the threat to life in communities close to the Gaza Strip.

Despite the tremendous efforts of IDF soldiers, the powerful artillery and the significant ground activity, it seems that there is still no sense of security among the residents of the envelope.

"If we dreamed that when we returned home to our communities, we wouldn't have to build protected homes, it seems that this dream is not realistic." Gadi Yarkoni, head of the Eshkol Council, said today (Saturday) at a Shabbat Tarbut event in Be'er Sheva.

Yarkoni added: "In the end, the border between us and Gazans remains, and whoever stays near the border must take into account that there will be missiles, but every missile fired at Eshkol must react as if a missile fell inside a kindergarten in Tel Aviv.
As long as there are residents in the Gaza Strip, I can't guarantee that there won't be missiles."

During the interview, Yarkoni also addressed the issue of the duration of the war and the IDF's surplus missions, saying that in his opinion, "lives are more important than everything, all the abductees must be returned first and then the fighting must be continued."
