Opinion | Sexual Terrorism: Look Who's Silent | Israel Hayom

Highlights: MK Limor Sun Har Melech initiated harsher punishments for nationalist-motivated sexual harassment. She herself complained to the DIP about sexual harassment by police officers who blocked her with their bodies during the evacuation of Kerem Ben Eliyahu near the community of Shiloh. She wants very much to renew Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip. For her, the picture of victory is Jewish children running through the streets of Khan Yunis. Any such woman, who is silent while they cry out their silent cry, does not deserve to be called a nurse.

Sun Har Melech, who initiated legislation against sexual terrorism, is a coalition member. How does it not demand that the prime minister impose a blockade on Gaza until these women are released?

"Sexual terrorism, even if denied, is an existing and horrifying phenomenon - a vile and despicable man who leaves his home with one goal: to sexually harm a woman on the basis of her Jewishness... A combination of nationalistic sexual harassment leaves victims with a double scar: both that of a victim of terrorism and the scar of a victim of sexual harassment."

These words belong to MK Limor Sun Har Melech, who initiated harsher punishments for nationalist-motivated sexual harassment. Sun Har Melech herself complained to the DIP about sexual harassment by police officers who blocked her with their bodies during the evacuation of Kerem Ben Eliyahu near the community of Shiloh. The complaint states that one of the officers "clung to the MK and stuck his leg between her legs in an abusive manner."

Anyone who claims to have experienced the harsh and humiliating feeling, and claims that nationalist-motivated sexual abuse is worse than "ordinary" sexual assault, would have been expected to be shocked by recent reports of severe sexual abuse of abductees taken captive by Hamas. From the Sunday Times investigation, through the New York Times investigation and the Daily Mail article, abducted testimonies returned from captivity and doctors' reports, all indicate that the abductees suffer from what she called a "double scar" – nationalist-motivated sexual abuse.

However, despite her personal experience, and even though she understands what is happening based on her past activity, we do not see her initiatives on the subject. A quick review of her Twitter account reveals that she is referring to the evacuation of Sde Yehonatan, bereaved families and reservists, but the investigations and shocking testimonies do not exist there.

Sun Har Melech wants very much to renew Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip. For her, the picture of victory is Jewish children running through the streets of Khan Yunis. Why does this contradict the mention of the abductees, those women who experience exactly what she fought against only a minute and a half ago and even initiated a law about it?

A woman who has complained against Jewish police officers of harassment while protected by immunity in her own country can, in one fell swoop, erase sexual abuse of women who are in enemy territory, alone, helpless, at the mercy of unrestrained bastards and restraints

How did it happen that what was so important to her a few months ago became air? Doesn't the suffering of Jewish women kidnapped from the territory of the State of Israel and sexually exploited by terrorists concern it? A woman who has complained against Jewish police officers of harassment while protected by immunity in her own country can, in one fell swoop, erase sexual abuse of women who are in enemy territory, alone, helpless, at the mercy of unrestrained bastards and restraints.

Sun Har Melech is a coalition member. How does it not demand that the prime minister impose a blockade on Gaza until these women are released? Netanyahu declares that the release of the abductees is a top priority, but in practice he does everything that keeps release away – from continuing the fighting to bringing in humanitarian aid. And this is happening when she and the entire Israeli government know what is happening to our abductees at the very same time.

Any woman who is part of the coalition while her sisters are raped and exploited in captivity is betraying the female sex. Any such woman, who is silent while they cry out their silent cry, does not deserve to be called a nurse.
