The SpVgg Altenerding basketball players lost the toughest away game of the season in Passau with 70:78. The Lower Bavarians surprised the guests early on with their quick combinations and ended the first quarter of the district league game by ten points (24:14).
Altenerding - After that the game became more competitive. The SpVgg came into play better and better. The defensive became more concentrated and the offensive was more consistent. Altenerding came up to four points, until then two quick three-point throws restored the old gap at half-time (30:40).
With 18 points per team in the third section, the gap remained from the first half and a last exciting section began. Altenerding tried everything again, fought for every ball, ran up and down the field and actually came up to four points again. The three-point throw to finally turn the game upside down did not want to fall. So the Altenerdinger could only watch Passau after tactical fouls to stop the clock, free throw after free throw and pulled away again. In the end it was 78:70 for the team from the three river city.
“Such long trips abroad are incredibly exhausting. We could have won the game, but sometimes it just shouldn't be. We lacked the last bit of luck today. But that is part of the learning process, ”Altenerding's Center Kristof Vadasz analyzed the end result. “We now have a long break until the next season game in March. We will use the time to work on our mistakes and give our many battered players time to regenerate. After that we will come back even stronger, ”said Coach Paraschidis after the game.
