Not a relaxed end to the season: Lena Berchtold (here in the home game against Schwabhausen IV) and TTC Birkland want to win against ESV Freimann.

In the table, the TTC Birkland goes neither forward nor backward.

Nevertheless, the table tennis women are fully motivated for the last game against Freimann.

Birkland – The last game of the season in TTC Birkland no longer has any effect on the table, but that in no way means that table tennis women in the Oberliga Bayern are no longer at stake.

In the home game on Saturday, April 30th, against ESV Freimann-München (4 p.m., Haus der Vereine), the Birkland women are once again highly motivated.

"We would like to make up for our quite clear defeat in the preliminary round," says TTC player Lena Berchtold.

At 4: 6 last October, Birkland actually didn't have much to order.

With one exception, the five individual defeats ended after three sets.

TTC Birkland meets ESV Freimann at home

One thing is clear even before the final chord: The TTC Birkland ends the season in third place.

With a victory over Freimann, the TTC (currently 24:10 points) would still be up to one point behind the Munich team (27:7).

The women from Birkland are "very satisfied" with their placement, said Lena Berchtold.

Due to the sometimes long breaks in the game due to Corona, "it wasn't easy to find the rhythm of the game again and to get back to the previous level and the old playing strength".

Even if Corona was still omnipresent, according to Berchtold it was "very nice to play a full season again".

Last but not least, the TTC was affected by the hotspot regulation: At the end of November, all sports halls were closed for weeks due to high incidence numbers in the Weilheim-Schongau district.

Nothing worked for the team for two months, so the program from mid-January was correspondingly tight - several "double game days" were necessary.

TTC Birkland still undefeated in 2022

The team apparently coped well with the situation: Birkland is still undefeated in 2022.

Seven wins, four draws – that's the record.

The TTC inflicted the only defeat of the season on the sovereign leader TSV Bad Rodach;

Birkland won 6:4 at home.

The team from the Peitingen district made third place in the table last weekend with a 7:3 win at Post SV Augsburg.

In the end, the result was clear, "even if it was close at first," as Lena Berchtold reported.

After the doubles it was 1:1.

Monika Dietrich/Lisa Böhmländer had lost their game (1:3), Lena Berchtold/Julia Holz had won (3:0).

After the first two singles it was still a draw.

Dietrich lost 1:3 sets, Lena Berchtold won 3:1.

But then the guests pulled away decisively with four wins in a row.

Birkland only allowed two set wins in the four duels.

The second series in the back pair cross ended with 1:1.

In the home game against ESV Freimann, the women from Birkland want to continue their impressive streak this year.

The team expects close duels against the runners-up (who have recently won five times in a row away from home) – and are once again hoping for an impressive number of spectators.

Balance sheets: The balance sheets of TTC Birkland in 2022: Karin Stumpfecker (11:7), Lisa Berchtold (0:4), Patricia Weishäupl (8:2), Lena Berchtold (11:5), Monika Dietrich (5:3) , Julia Holz (5:5), Lisa Böhmländer (11:3), Beate Greib-Trapp (3:3), Daniela Rinner (1:1);

Double (13:9).
