EC Peiting made it difficult for leaders Weiden for a long time.

Despite several failures, the team held up well - and thanks to their goalie.

Peiting

– Nobody in Weiden touched the puck that day as often as Konrad Fiedler: The goalie of EC Peiting was hit by the puck by the leader of the table.

And mostly he fought them off.

It was certainly not the 19-year-old's fault that it ended up being a 3:6 defeat - in fact, he made sure that Peiting could hope for a point with the "Blue Devils" for a long time.

"An amazing game from him," coach Anton Saal praised the goalie after the game - after all, it was only his second league game.

Saal also complimented the rest of the team for performing well despite numerous changes - because Peiting had to do without three defenders and attacker Marco Habermann in Weiden.

EC Peiting takes the lead in Weiden

Nevertheless, the team comes into play well on Sunday evening.

The host helps with that too.

Only 33 seconds are played when Dominik Müller has to go to the penalty box for two minutes because of a gang check.

The ECP players position themselves quickly around the Weidener Tor, but don't really come to a conclusion.

The “Blue Devils” keep bringing the disc out of their own third.

When Weiden is complete again, Marius Schmidt makes a bad pass across in front of his own goal.

The puck lands in front of Marc Besl's bat, which reacts quickly and makes it 1-0 for Peiting.

But then it's the turn of the Weideners.

And ECP goalie Fiedler.

This time he can play instead of Florian Hechenrieder.

And lets the people of Weiden, who really put the pressure on, despair time and time again.

Just before the end of the third, Moritz Schug manages to

Weiden puts on Peiting the goal

Weiden is pushing for the lead after the break.

But Peiting is good at the back and fends off many attempts.

And keeps pricking the needle, so that a lively back and forth develops.

The ECP itself put an abrupt end to this when Alexander Winkler and Samuel Payeur each received two-minute penalties within 19 seconds.

With two more men on the ice, Weiden didn't take long to ask.

Kurt Davis and Luca Gläser make it 3-1.

The result suits the game, but Peiting gets another assist from Weiden.

This time Edgar Homjakovs missed the pass – Tim Mühlegger took a direct shot and scored to make it 2:3.

The joy is short-lived.

When a shot from a Peitinger's thigh fell onto the ice, Davis scored to make it 4-2 for Weiden.

For the goal scorer, the final seconds on the ice then begin.

After a gang check by Payeur, which is penalized with two minutes, Davis blows the fuses.

He attacks Payeur, who goes down and leaves the field temporarily injured.

This means a five-minute penalty for Weiden and the end of the game for Davis.

Many penalty minutes for Weiden and Peiting

Brassard uses the majority at the beginning of the final section to score a goal.

And Peiting definitely has opportunities to equalize afterwards.

But in the final phase, emotions run high, penalties rain down, the teams get more space.

In the four-on-four it is Homjakovs who put Weiden on the winning road with the 5:3.

Tomas Rubes then adds the 6:3 via empty net goal, since Fiedler left the ice in favor of a sixth field player.

The three points are justified for the hosts, no question.

But Peiting was able to leave the ice with his head held high.

Coach Saal saw it that way: "We played with heart again."
