During the soccer match between Indonesia and Thailand, a huge riot erupted on the pitch, with beatings between the players and the teams' bench. In the 98th minute of the game, the referee whistled for a foul, in a 1:2 situation for Indonesia. What everyone understood around was that the game was over, but very quickly the referee corrected and returned the players to the field. In the ensuing move, a dramatic equaliser arrived, sparking a commotion between the players, after an exaggerated celebration by Thailand in front of the opponent's bench.

When the game went to extra-time, the commotion continued after another Indonesia goal, including slaps and punches flying from every direction. The riot eventually ended with 4 red cards, 9 yellow cards and a great Indonesian 2:5, en route to the gold medal.
