(ANSA) - NEW YORK, DECEMBER 17 - Poverty in the shadow of casinos.
It is the other side of the glittering Las Vegas, par excellence the home of gambling and entertainment, where between the glamor and the shining lights of casinos hundreds of homeless seek refuge in underground tunnels.
According to an article by the Huffington Post, the tunnels built by the casinos for the drainage of rainwater are like a house for about three hundred homeless people. These are mostly people who have problems with alcoholism or who use headaches or who suffer from mental illnesses. They also live in extreme conditions because in the event of heavy rains the water flows underground at a speed of about 50 km, dragging everything along its passage.
The huffington Post also reports that the last three deaths occurred below the tunnels.
