ROME - From an almost disappeared vine comes a genuine drink that tastes of autumn. It's called 'Suuucco' is made from 100% grapes with no added sugars and is made by Copagri Lazio in collaboration with Eccelsa, the association of the province of Rieti that promotes agribusiness and Sabine culture.

The history of the fruit from the vine to the jar is very short: less than twenty-four hours pass from the time of harvesting the grapes to the processing and transformation into juice, so as to avoid fermentation and keep the flavor alive.

While the history of the vine from which it comes is instead a little longer and more complex. To obtain it, the winemakers have re-grafted the shoots of a single surviving plant of almost two hundred years, thus giving new life to a vine that was widespread in the area in the nineteenth century, but had then disappeared over time.

"The recovery and enhancement of ancient or disused plant and animal varieties is essential to protect biodiversity, while at the same time safeguarding sustainable agriculture, for which it represents a priceless heritage; it is for this reason that we are proud to announce the the birth of grape juice based on black Cesenese di Castelfranco, in the province of Rieti, a vine that has almost disappeared ", explains the president of Copagri Lazio Guido Colasanti, stressing that" the black Cesenese of Castelfranco, in fact, not to be confused with the Cesanese, is a real rarity in the national wine scene, it is an almost disappeared vine.

The launch of the drink, distributed under the 'Suuucco' brand exclusively at the Charleston Coffee in Rieti, is part of a five-year project that aims to condense the colors and flavors of the seasons into four drinks that will be presented close to the season of reference. In fact, the grape juice that represents the autumn will be joined by another drink strongly linked to the winter period, which will be presented at the beginning of the new year.
