A wolf is said to have torn dozens of sheep in Schleswig-Holstein. Now the bearer of a forest kindergarten has temporarily moved it after being warned of the animal.

After a warning about a wolf, a forest kindergarten in Schleswig-Holstein temporarily looks after the boys and girls in an alternative quarters. Udo Neumann, Regional Director of the Johanniter in Schleswig-Holstein North / West told SPIEGEL.

On Wednesday they received a warning from the Burg-St. Michaelisdonn received that there is a "very aggressive wolf" in the Christianslust forest in Dithmarschen, who may have torn 40 to 50 sheep. "We then made a preventative decision not to expose the children, employees and parents to this," said Neumann.

The children's whip is closed anyway over the holidays, which is why the regulation only applied on Thursday and Friday for the time being. On January 2, one will probably start in the alternative quarters in Burg. "We will also monitor the situation in consultation with the wolf manager," said Neumann.

Wolf had been accompanying the kindergarten for a long time. At the beginning of the year there were training courses for children and employees for a possible wolf encounter. For example, the educators were also equipped with whistles to drive the animal away. According to Neumann, these did not have to be used: "We never had a meeting with a wolf."

Basically, the risk that humans are attacked by a wolf is low. Since wolves have been living in Germany again, no incident has been documented in which one of the animals has been aggressive towards a human.
