(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 23 - The Australian government was warned, after the May elections, that the country had to prepare for more frequent heat waves and forest fires and that citizens would take risks without effective action on climate change. The Guardian reports that the Department of Internal Affairs reports that dozens of major fires have been raging for weeks in the country, especially in the state of New South Wales. The report handed over to the government by Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton warned of "catastrophes" exacerbated by climate change.
