(ANSA) - FIUMICINO, DECEMBER 27 - A special guided tour at sunset on the last day of the year: to promote it is the Mediterranean Habitat Center Lipu of Ostia, the naturalistic oasis at the mouth of the Tiber, built in what was an open-air landfill, which has become a precious treasure trove of biodiversity, a true birdwatching paradise, in which over 200 species of birds have been collected. For Alessandro Polinori, vice president of Lipu-BirdLifeItalia and head of the lidense oasis, "we live more and more in a society that suffers from serious deficits in nature and sometimes, precisely because of the lack of confidence we have with its elements, whether they are animal or vegetable, we perceive only as a nuisance, not understanding their importance, from many punctual views, not least for the well-being of man, as well as for their immense intrinsic value, also in terms of beauty, capable of helping us to counter the stress of everyday life.
Spending a couple of hours immersed in nature reborn at the focedel of the Tiber, among small crested grebes, herons, kingfishers, duck marsh ducks, can be a way to conclude the year by making peace with nature, experiencing incredible emotions, such as those given by the possibility to watch the sun set over the oasis. And, in reconciliation, this is our hope, more and more people will want to acquire styles of life that are respectful of biodiversity and all its inhabitants, starting from avoiding the use of noisy barrels and pyrotechnic fires, on the occasion of the New Year, causing the death of thousands of wild and domestic animals, as well as highly polluting elements.
