It is a new "invincible" weapon that Putin had already announced a year ago, that is, a missile capable of reaching, according to official Russian sources, a speed in the atmosphere of Mach 27, about 33,000 kilometers per hour. In fact, it is capable of hitting any target within minutes. It is also capable, Putin pointed out, of making fast turns and suddenly changing altitude, thus becoming almost impossible to intercept. Not surprisingly, a few days ago Putin boasted that Russia has become the only country in the world to deploy hypersonic weapons. During the Cold War, he recalled, the Soviet Union chased the US in designing the atomic bomb and building strategic bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles. "Now we have a situation that is unique in modern history: they are the ones trying to reach us. Not a single nation has hypersonic weapons, let alone those of an intercontinental reach."
