ROME - The Italian agritourism touches the share of 1.4 billion euros in 2018 for total turnover, with a growth of 2.5% compared to the previous year. Ismea notes this with the report "Agriturismo and multifunctionality" 2019.

From the analysis of the Institute of services for the agricultural food market, the sector has 23,615 authorized agritourism farms (+ 0.9%), for a total of over 262,000 beds and 460,000 table seats. Compared to 2017 there are 209 more authorized companies. The catering offer has 242 companies (+ 2.1%) and over 20 thousand more seats, while the tasting offer, in line with the positive trend of recent years, has grown by 350 companies.

The demand is mainly supported by tourists from foreign countries, with a number of visitors that exceeded one million and six hundred thousand. Guests come mostly from Germany, the Netherlands, France and the United States with a purchase of 59% of the over 13 million overnight stays. Portugal, Spain, the Czech Republic, Russia, Canada, Brazil and Australia are also growing, which in the last year have recorded double-digit increases both in the number of tourists and in the number of nights booked in Italian farmhouses.
