What do Karl Lagerfeld and Jürgen Klinsmann have in common? Apparently an aversion to sweatpants. "Anyone who wears sweatpants has lost control of their lives," said the late designer this year. Jürgen Klinsmann has now put the trousers on the index at his new club Hertha BSC.
According to a report by "Bild", jogging pants are now banned on business trips to away games for athletes. Klinsmann, who has been training the Berlin Bundesliga soccer team since the end of November, is said to have decided on the new dress code together with his team of coaches.
No obligation to suit
However, there should not be a suit obligation if the Hertha professionals travel on behalf of the association. It was said that the players could individually decide on their clothing ... at least as long as they do without sports pants and a training jacket.
Klinsmann apparently learned in his time as a professional player in Italy to travel to away games in fine twine. Even during his time as national coach (USA, Germany), his players were never seen in training clothes on official trips. The business look has been compulsory in the US baseketball professional league NBA since 2005.
Incidentally, the inventor of comfortable leg dresses is a man from the country of fashion - the Frenchman Emile Camuset. The founder of the sporting goods manufacturer Le Coq Sportif first offered jersey training pants in 1929.
It has not yet been clarified whether Klinsmann's ban will even apply on January 21st: diehard fans are celebrating the "International Jogging Pants Day".
