In the last week of December "slight drop" of cases due to the closure of schools for the holidays. This is what we read in the Influnet epidemiological surveillance bulletin of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS). The Autonomous Province of Trento, Marche and Campania were the most affected regions.

As reported in the Influnet bulletin, the total number of cases of influenza since the beginning of surveillance has been 1,587,000. In the week of 23 to 29 December, the total incidence was 3.7 cases per thousand assisted, but among children under five years of age it reached 10 cases per thousand. In parallel with the infections, serious cases also increase, that is, characterized by respiratory complications that have made hospitalization in intensive care necessary. According to the FluNews Italia bulletin, also edited by the ISS, up to 22 December there were 8 of these cases, almost all with risky conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
