Raphael, a rose opens celebrations 500 dead years

From January 2 and throughout 2020 a red rose on the tomb of Raphael at the Pantheon will accompany the celebrations for the five hundred years since his death, which took place in Rome on April 6, 1520 at just 37 years old. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 02 - From January 2 and throughout 2020 a red rose on the tomb of Raphael at the Pantheon will accompany the celebrations for the five hundred years since his death, which took place in Rome on April 6, 1520 at just 37 years old.
The remains of the famous artist, called the Urbinate, are preserved in the Pantheon by his own will. In 1520 the corpovenne buried in the Roman monument and placed in the aedicule of the Madonna del Sasso, work commissioned by Raffaello himself and executed by Lorenzo Lotti known as Lorenzetto. The words dedicated to him by Pietro Bembo are engraved on the lapid which, exalting his creative force, writes: ILLE HIC EST RAPHAELTIMUIT QUO SOSPITE VINCI RERUM MAGNA PARENS ET MORIENTE MORI, that is "Here Raffaello lies from which, while he was alive, la Natura feared to be won and when he died, he feared he would die too. "
From March 5 to June 2, at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome, a major monographic exhibition will represent the punctual event of the program approved by the National Committee established in January 2018 by the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, and chaired by AntonioPaolucci.
