Already the British edition of the show "I'm a celebrity - Get me out of here" did without an open fire last month; the candidates instead prepared their food on a gas stove for the first time in the history of the show, English media reported. Now the RTL show "I am a star - get me out of here!" (IBES) do without the traditional camp center. The reason: the severe forest fires in Australia.
Violent bush fires have raged in large parts of Australia for weeks. At least 17 people have died since the first fires broke out. Dozens are missing. According to the authorities, several million hectares of land have already been burned.
The all-clear for the area of the jungle camp
"We are closely following the dramatic situation in Australia," said a spokesman for the station at the request of the German Press Agency. "The area on which the jungle camp in Australia is located is not affected by the bush fires. It is also almost impossible that the fires can reach the area of the 'jungle camp'."
Instead of a campfire, where the camp residents gather, this time there should only be gas-powered fire, the transmitter said. The fire has played an important role in the show so far: it had to be guarded by at least two campers at night so that it didn't go out. Another news was already announced on Wednesday: In the new season, no live animals such as maggots should be consumed.
