Gives birth to the tenth child by undergoing the fifth cesarean delivery. It happened at the San Giovanni Battista hospital in Foligno and for the doctors who followed the woman, from Ascoli Piceno, it was an operative intervention almost like a "world record holder". "We are telling an exceptional case, I imagine unique in Italy and rare in the world," explained Maurizio Arduini, the gynecologist of the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Telling that "the patient was in her tenth pregnancy, having already given birth to nine children, and her fifth cesarean section at very high risk for a serious pathology of the placenta. The management of the pregnancy - he added - required a particular commitment, the woman and the baby she carried in her womb had to be periodically subjected to specific and careful checks but everything was made even more complicated by the distance ". On the morning of December 30th the cesarean was performed, after a couple of days before the mother had been hospitalized. Miriam, the baby born, is in excellent health.
Fabrizio Damiani, director of the maternal and child department of the USL Umbria 2, commented on the perfectly successful intervention: "The surgical complexity of the operation, the high risk for the mother and the baby, the exceptional nature of the event have an articulated and multidisciplinary organization was required which, in addition to us gynecologists, saw colleagues from interventional radiology, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, midwives and operating room staff as protagonists ". Specifically, the medical team that attended the event was made up of the gynecologists Damiani and Arduini, the interventional radiologist Maselli, the anesthesiologist Carloni, the pediatrician Castellani and the midwives Bazzucchi, Cruciani and Pambianchi. The multiple mother of Ascoli recalled that from the first check-up the doctors of the Foligno hospital had shown her the risks she was facing, "but they had also reassured us that everything was going well".
