(ANSA) - CARACAS, JAN 5 - The Venezuelan National Assembly meets at 11am (4pm Italian time) in Caracas to discuss evoking a proposal to confirm for one year the appointment of the outgoing president of the collegiate body, Juan Guaidó. An agreement formed by all the opposition parties in 2016 provided for a rotation system for the presidency of the National Assembly which, by 2020-21, the last mandate year, should have gone to the minority. If Guaidó abandons the position, however, his role as interim president of the Republic, the result of his self-proclamation a year ago, and therefore the G4, a group made up of the four most important parties in Parliament, has decided to re-propose his application. To achieve the goal Guaidó needs half the vote plus one of the 167 members of the Assembly that Stalin González, second vice-president of the Assembly, assures available, despite the fact that 67 deputies are not present because in hiding or in exile.
