After the focus on the country system and food safety 'Marca by BolognaFiere', the Italian trade show dedicated to private label products, opens on 15 and 16 January in the name of sustainability. The 2020 edition presents growing numbers: 850 exhibitors participate, spread over over 21 thousand square meters of surface and 10 thousand visitors are expected, of which at least 500 from foreign countries. "Sixteen years ago Marca was a happy intuition - explains Gianpiero Calzolari, president of BolognaFiere - because in recent years the private label products have conquered very important volumes and spaces. Marca has contributed to realizing this successful occasion". How the private label contributes to the challenge of the country's sustainable development is the theme at the heart of Marca 2020. "We will give our definition of sustainable development - underlines Giorgio Santambrogio, president of the Modern Distribution Association (ADM) that collaborates with BolognaFiere in the organization di Marca - In the studies that we will present we will see which European or world realities stimulate or the positive correlation between the incidence of private label products and the attention to sustainable development by 'copacker' companies ". "Marca is the first fair of the year for Bologna but also for the national fair system - adds Calzolari - It opens after the Christmas break and is the occasion for a first reflection on the country's economic and social prospects". Marca always pays particular attention to emerging trends. This year the space dedicated to organic products is still growing (+ 15%), with organic farms now representing a quarter of the exhibition area. Roberto Zanoni, president of AssoBio, is satisfied, anticipating: "Marca will be the occasion for a conference on the 'right price'. We want to turn on a light bulb where the prices to farmers are incorrect and we will do so by presenting three supply chains - tomato, wheat, milk - cheese - where according to the production areas we will report the minimum price to the farmer ". At Marca 2020 there is more space for 'without' products while the 'non food' part of the distributor's Marca has for the first time a completely dedicated area, pavilion 36 which in fact adds to the exhibition spaces and expands its surface. A particular focus will then be dedicated to products for pets and with Marca Tech the technological part will be "unbun" with important innovations especially on the materials front, also in implementation of the new regulations on "plastic-free". Among the novelties there is also Marca Fresh, a space reserved for the fresh sector with fruit and vegetables as the protagonist.
