The key to edit Twitter posts, loudly and periodically asked by users, may never arrive. Jack Dorsey, the platform's CEO, said this in a video interview with Wired. Dorsey talked about the origins of the microblog and how it was born to be similar to text messages, which is why the company refused to include the modification option from the beginning.
The CEO also added that inserting a tweet correction option could facilitate 'malicious' uses such as editing content to mislead users. "These are all the considerations - said Dorsey - Probably we will never do it", referring precisely to the modification button.
A decision that marks the distance from Facebook, social networks on which it is possible to change or correct a post.
The last most important change, which marked the evolution of Twitter, occurred in 2017 when the social network doubled the number of characters that can be used.
