After the fall last June, British: 'I'm happy' (ANSA)

The return to the race of Chris Froome, seriously injured last June due to a fall, is scheduled for the end of February. The British cyclist will take part in the UAE Tour, from 23 to 29 February in the United Arab Emirates. The four-time winner of the Tour de France has not competed since last June 12, when he fell during the reconnaissance of the Giro del Dauphinato chronometer, suffering from various fractures that forced him to undergo multiple surgeries. He got back on his bicycle last fall, during a performance in Japan.
"I am really happy to resume competing in the United Arab Emirates. I have just completed a good training period in the Canaries and I am looking forward to moving on to the next phase of my recovery and regaining strength," said Froome, who set himself the goal of the Tour de France next July.
The organizers of the United Arab Emirates Tour have announced the participation of Spaniard Alejandro Valverde, 2018 world champion, Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, third in the last Vuelta, and Australian Rohan Dennis, world champion in charge in the time trial. There will also be a series of sprinters (Ewan, Gaviria, Groenewegen, Ackermann, Démare, Cavendish). Seven stages are scheduled, starting from the archipelago of the island of Marjan and ending in Abu Dhabi.
