The consequences of the embarrassing fiasco at Eurovision? Low ticket sales? Maybe age has begun to signal? • Madonna cancels performances and the audience loses patience

For the eighth time since Madame X's tour began, Madonna has canceled a last-minute performance again. Rumors in the music industry about meager ticket sales are increasing.

Just 45 minutes before Madonna's scheduled show in Lisbon on Tuesday, ticket buyers received a brief apology email saying that the show was canceled.

"We are sorry to inform you that Madonna will not be able to perform tonight," the statement said. At the same time, the star wrote on Instagram: "Thank you, Lisbon, and sorry I had to cancel tonight, but I have to keep my body and rest."

This is the sixth time in the tour that Madonna (61) cancels a show explaining an injury or pain caused by the physical exertion she is required on stage.

In two other cancellations, including that of the opening night in New York in September, the excuse was "production failures that prevented a show."
In fact, Madonna has canceled shows in most of the major cities she has visited so far: New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston (where all three shows have been canceled) and now Lisbon, which opened the European section.

Madonna's current tour is different from the grandiose performances that characterized her career. No longer huge stadiums, but intimate theaters with up to 2,000 people. In every major city, she has several performances throughout several evenings, and this is intended to provide fans with an extraordinary and closer experience than ever before.

The tour has received some favorable reviews, but it has almost no recollection of social networking since the introduction of smartphones and cameras into the courtroom for the first time. Is it to avoid sharing flattering videos for a lady, much like the fiasco that happened following her appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv?

Madonna is expected to continue next week to London and Paris, where the tour is scheduled to end in March.
