Food: white meats, recovering production and consumption

VERONA - White meats, from chicken thigh to turkey breast to capon broth, always conquer the most the taste of Italians, with a 2019 that marks the recovery of both production and consumption. And this represents a boost for the whole Italian economy, because - as specified in Fieragricola, at the start of the Verona Fair, by Unaitalia, the association that represents over 90% of the national poultry production, about 30% of that of the eggs for consumption - the poultry meat sector is 100% Made in Italy, all the chicken that Italians bring to the table is bred, slaughtered and distributed in Italy. And the poultry sector is the only completely self-sufficient sector in the panorama of Italian meats. According to the first Unaitalia estimates, in 2019 the national production of white meat returned to growth, albeit slightly, from 1,314,000 in 2018 to 1,328,000 tons (+ 1%). According to the association's projections, overall consumption also increased: from 20.4 to 20.7 kilos per capita. Eggs are stable, with production in line with 2018. (ANSA).
