Musician Nadav Hollander sings the poems of the great Hebrew poets to the little ones in the "Butcher Tray" show and deals with the other sides of the great Hebrew poets in the adult show
The current novel by the musician and self-written man Nadav Hollander, with the great Hebrew poets Nathan Alterman, began when he was approached by Einat Besser, from the last piano festival, in a proposal to prepare a children's show from his songs.
The musician dived into Alterman's books, gleaned from them the works he saw as a potential match for the show, composed some texts and wrote some himself. Then he recruited Yuval Mendelsohn, a singer, a member of the band who would become mad and an educator on a daily basis, for the role of narrator. The two have previously stitched together the horror comedy "Cats on a Pedal Boat," but this time their mission was quite different.

"These are not Alterman's canonical texts. No endless meeting, no lullaby, or" Eliplet, "explains Hollander, who is currently recording the show's songs for the album." I didn't know. Something very humorous and cute. It turns out he liked to write about colorful characters, children and animals. "
It is a time when Nathan Alterman's spirit accompanies Hollander in his musical ways. At night, he performs with Sheila Farber in a show dedicated to the poet's classics, with an emphasis on the darker sides of his work. Alterman, as well as being a juggler, will also reinforce a fondness for bitter drinking, a tendency for altered moods, and continued to lively bohemian life. But this side of his personality does not meet Hollander's days, which he devotes to "The Butcher's Tray," a show that explores and magically makes the poet's songs - and not necessarily their classics - for children.

"It came out pretty nice actually, which I get to perform in one week with a very broad scale of Alterman's creation," Hollander says. "He was always a poet I loved exceptionally well."
Were you worried about competing with the rest of the children's shows, which wink at an audience with stars?
"Obviously it's a concern that a billet comes in when you do something with the title 'quality'. But I hope the audience understands that it's really good, and not just quality. I really like the lyrics and the music, and when you do that out of that connection you are less concerned with the competition question "After a pre-show we did, I heard a group of kids singing a song from the show, which I composed and they hadn't heard anywhere before. It was a magical moment and showed me that there's definitely something here that can talk to them."
The next performance of "The Butcher Tray" will be held on Saturday, February 1, 4:30 pm, at the Suzanne Dellal Center, Tel Aviv.
