(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 30 - The Prosecutor General of Rome filed an appeal against the release of Salvatore Buzzi, a key figure in the Mondo di mezzo investigation, decided on December 19 last by the Court of Appeal. In today's hearing of the review tribunal, Buzzi, however, asked for the challenge of the president of the court of liberty, Bruno Azzolini, while he claims in the appeal, in the past twice expressed himself against him confirming the setting of the pm.
The review, on appeal, therefore postponed the hearing to February 24, pending a hearing by the Court of Appeal on the petition advanced by the defenders. For the Public Prosecutor's Office, the ras of the Roman cooperatives, under house arrest and sentenced in second instance to 18 years and 4 months and pending a new trial for the determination of the sentence after the Cassation has caused the mafia crimes to fall, must return to prison because there are needs precautionary as it is still "socially dangerous" and could "reiterate corruption with the new ruling class".
