Two departments of the Alps were placed on orange alert this Saturday by Météo France, which fears avalanches. Savoy and Haute-Savoie are indeed affected by a warm spell with temperatures of around 10 ° C above seasonal norms, which increases the risk of avalanches. Vigilance extends from Sunday noon to Monday 7 am.

The risk of spontaneous avalanche departure will increase rapidly in the day on Sunday and become strong due to a new rainy spell, specifies Météo France on its site. The amounts of rain forecast for the episode are 20 to 40 mm.
Some of these avalanches could be of great magnitude and threaten some mountain infrastructures, in the massifs of Haute-Savoie and the north of Savoy, still indicates the weather service.
The other massifs of Savoie and the high massifs of Isère are also concerned by a risk of wet snow avalanches but of lesser magnitude due to less heavy rains. It is recommended to be well informed about the state of the roads and the safety instructions in the ski resorts.
