Coronavirus: more than 300 dead including a first death outside of China

Deaths reported in Philippines from epicenter of Wuhan epidemic


The number of deaths from proven cases of viral pneumonia in China continues to increase like that of the affected countries. The Hubei Province Health Commission in central China, where the coronavirus epicenter is located, announced Sunday that 45 people had died in the past 24 hours.

A total of 14,568 people were affected, including 14,391 in China and 305 died.

First death outside of China

For the first time, the Philippines reported the first death outside China of a person with viral pneumonia. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), this patient came from Wuhan, the epicenter of the epidemic, and was not infected in the Philippines. Wenzhou city placed in containment

Finally, public places such as cinemas or swimming pools are closed. Companies will not have to return to work before February 17 and schools will remain closed until March 1.

Restrictions for Chinese tourists

Faced with the spread of this coronavirus with nearly 150 infections in more than 20 countries, some including the United States or Australia but also Russia have taken measures concerning travelers.

The United States will ban from this Sunday at 22:00 GMT the entry on their territory to foreigners who have visited China in the last 14 days. And a quarantine of up to 14 days will be imposed on Americans who have been in the past two weeks in Hubei.

For its part, Australia has not accepted since Saturday on its soil non-residents arriving from China. Same thing in Italy, Singapore, Israel or even in Mongolia. Vietnam has decided to suspend all air links with China.

In Russia since midnight Saturday, all Chinese must obtain a visa for tourism so people in groups have been exempt since 2000. In addition, no more work visa will be granted.

Chinese authorities annoyed
