At the discretion and by personal decision of the employees. So is the use of chinstrap at Ezeiza Airport and in Buenos Aires hotels for now, given the expansion of the coronavirus around the world. This Saturday saw chins on both airline workers and Turkish Airlines and those of security companies and some passengers who just landed.

Even in different hotels in the City that received quotas from Chinese citizens, there were employees who used chinstrap when the bags were lowered from the rooms to the lobby.

However, there were no official orders to use chinstraps in Ezeiza . What was implemented was a mass dissemination campaign in airports, through brochures and screens, on prevention measures and symptoms to which attention should be paid. It is part of a series of measures launched by the Presidency of the Nation and the Ministries of Health and Transportation, which also include the request for collaboration with air, naval and land transport companies to promote the detection and handling of cases.

Aerolineas Argentinas, for example, has already instructed its personnel on how to detect the symptoms of coronavirus and what are the possible forms of contagion and prevention, according to the company's spokesmen. In addition, it is in contact with aeronautical authorities and the ministries involved "to analyze whether it is necessary to take other measures."

This Wednesday, the first two cases in Ezeiza of possible infection with the virus were recorded. They ended up being false positives . “One was for a Spanish passenger who arrived from Rome in Alitalia and another for a Taiwanese passenger who arrived from Dallas by American Airlines. The cases were analyzed and it was ruled out that it was a coronavirus ”, says Norberto Dupesso, a journalist accredited in that airport terminal by TN and El Trece TV.

If this happens again, “ a protocol will be activated according to which the passenger who is suspected of having the virus will get off the plane, as well as the two lateral travelers and those who are sitting back and forth. They will be taken to care modules away from the rest, so that the case can be analyzed, ”adds Dupesso.

That is because it is considered that in an airplane there is close contact between “passengers located in a two-seat radius around symptomatic cases during the flight and to the crew that has had contact with such cases”, highlights the Ministry of Health of the Nation in its “Recommendations for health teams. New Coronavirus 2019-nCoV ”, published on Monday.

After this isolation, it is planned to take these passengers to the Eurnekian hospital , which is seven minutes from the airport, since the institution is already prepared to receive suspicious cases and study them , indicate from Airports Argentina 2000, the concessionaire that controls the airports.
