The prison doors are opened for the last two convicted in the Thyssenkrupp trial. A German court rejected the appeal of Harald Espenhahn and Gerald Priegnit z, the managers of the multinational steel company who were definitively responsible for the stake that killed 7 workers in Turin in 2007.
After the last sentence of the Court of Cassation, the defendants were given 9 years and 8 months and 6 years and 10 months respectively. In Germany they will serve five, the maximum penalty provided for by local law for crimes of this kind. "My first thought goes to the families of the victims who claimed a justice response.
"My strongest embrace goes to them" is the message of the Minister of Justice, Alfonso Bonafede .
"Turin has been waiting for this news for a long time", is the comment of the mayor Chiara Appendino , who says she is "close to the families of the victims".
