(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 6 - The Chinese doctor Li Wenliang, who had first alerted the spread of the coronavirus, but had not been listened to, died. The medialocals make it known, explaining that the doctor died precisely from the contagion of coronavirus. Li, a 34-year-old ophthalmologist, had reported seven cases of a virus in December that reminded him of Sars at the Wuhan hospital where he worked. He had tried unsuccessfully to warn his colleagues, to share the alarm that suspicious cases had aroused, but the local authorities made him understand that it was time to stop.
A month later Li repeated his story in a post, entrusted this time by a hospital bed where he was now hospitalized after being infected. His photo with the oxygen mask and the ID card shown confatica went viral on social media in Mandarin, because in the meantime he became a hero: he challenged the power of the local authority for a "noble cause" in favor of collectivity.
