Podcasts for Spotify are growing: in 2019 the hours listened to have increased by 200%. These are the data that can be deduced from the quarterly of the popular streaming music service which expands the losses compared to 2018 but sees the number of paid users increase, now equal to 124 million (+ 29% on the previous year); the service counts more than Apple Music, which had 60 million in June.
The total number of users registered on the platform instead reached 271 million, with an increase of 31% compared to the previous year. "Accelerating investment in podcasts and technology spending is an indication that our strategy is getting tangible results," the company said in a statement, adding that "2020 will be a year of investment." With investments in research and marketing, the company also reported a net loss of 186 million euros ($ 205 million) for 2019, more than double the previous year when it had recorded a loss of 78 million.
