Podcasts for Spotify are growing: in 2019 the hours listened to have increased by 200%. The total number of users registered on the platform instead reached 271 million, with an increase of 31% compared to the previous year. "Accelerating investment in podcasts and technology spending is an indication that our strategy is getting tangible results," the company said in a statement, adding that "2020 will be a year of investment." With investments in research and marketing, the company also reported a net loss of 186 million euros ($ 205 million) for 2019, more than double the previous year when it had recorded a loss of 78 million.
