(ANSA) - FLORENCE, FEBRUARY 6 - For the first time ever, a court - the Arizona Court - has banned the use of the domains uffizi.com, uffizi.net, uffizigallery.com, uffizigallery.net, uffizigallery.org and others like it. For the museum it is "a historic judicial victory of the Uffizi Galleries against online hacking". They are so far used to sell tickets at higher prices, using the name Uffizi wrongly to deceive visitors.
"Historical victory - comments the director Eike Schmidt - We have dealt a devastating blow against the vampires of the Net who for years, like parasites, have illegally and in bad faith exploited our heritage and our image. But not only: these pirate sites have in fact misled Worldwide". The legal battle was the Florentine trail museum and the BoxNic Anstalt company, which in Arizona had registered numerous domains containing the name of the Uffizi, using them for years for its own exclusive profit. (HANDLE).
