32 participants from all over the world were already looking forward to the PUBG tournament in Berlin, but the corona virus made it necessary to postpone the event.

  • € 500,000 as a prize pool - participants do not get this prize (for the time being)
  • Coronavirus strikes again - tournament is postponed indefinitely
  • PUBG tournament organizers make an official statement

Berlin - Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, or PUBG for short, is still very popular with players today, which is shown not least by the more than 31 million followers on Twitch. Even if the hype has flattened since 2018, there are still countless fans and fans of the title. With a larger tournament in Berlin, the developer now wants to attract the masses again - but the corona virus is putting a spanner in the works.

PUBG tournament in Berlin canceled - Coronavirus to blame

This year, the first scheduled PUBG Global Series 2020 event should start between April 10th and 12th. 32 teams from all over the world compete against each other for 2 weeks and fight for a prize pool of a whopping € 500,000. To the annoyance of everyone involved, the event in Berlin has now been canceled. The background is the highly contagious corona virus , which is spreading more and more. In order not to endanger the health of the players and to protect them from possible risks, the decision was made to cancel the Berlin-based event.

The fact that the corona virus is anything but harmless has been shown in the past, but now a YouTuber with a tasteless prank is going too far and has to take a lot of criticism, as reported by ingame.de *.

PUBG Esports express themselves in a Twitter post

The first of the four planned events was therefore postponed indefinitely. Nevertheless, the organizers are currently examining whether it can be held in Berlin at a later date. The three other venues for the PUBG tournament have not yet been announced. But not only the actual event, but also the qualification rounds, which were actually planned from March 31 to April 5, could be affected.

For the esports scene in PUBG this may be a big setback, but considering that the corona virus is spreading faster and faster worldwide, this decision is completely understandable. A similar decision was recently made by developer Epic Games, which removed a game from its store.

In a tweet, the PUBG -Esports organizers commented as follows:

Due to the health concerns surrounding Coronavirus, we have decided to postpone PGS: Berlin. Our first priority is the safety of our players, staff, and fans.
We will provide more information at a later date.

" For health reasons, we decided to postpone PGS: Berlin. Our first priority is the safety of our players, employees and fans. You will get more information later ."

In conclusion, according to the PUBG -Esports team, the tournament will definitely take place and they are doing everything they can not to cancel the upcoming events.
