WhatsApp groups: how to protect yourself from invitations
- Open the privacy settings on the smartphone
- Careful: the settings cannot be changed on WhatsApp Web , i.e. on the computer
- Click on "Account" in the settings
- Select the item "Data protection"
- There, look for the "Groups" tab and click on the small arrow
- Now you decide who can invite you to WhatsApp groups in the future
- If you select "Everyone", you can be invited as soon as someone has their cell phone number
- "Contacts" are people whose numbers you yourself have
- If you want, you can limit the contacts to individual people
WhatsApp groups: update the app
The new feature against group invitations is now gradually being made available to all users who use iOS version 2.19.110.20 or Android beta version 2.19.298. It then appears after the update under the account settings under "Data protection". If this is not the case for you, it is advisable to check your own WhatsApp version.
