(ANSA) - LONDON, FEBRUARY 19 - In the tense climate of post-Brexit negotiations between the United Kingdom and Europe, we return to talk about one of the hottest issues in relations between London and the continent: the return of Parthenon marbles, preserved for over two hundred years at the British Museum in the British capital.
Today, the Kingdom press is alarmed by the news of a draft agreement drawn up by the diplomats of Brussels in view of the post-divorce negotiations that must open in March and in which there is a clause to protect "cultural objects illegally removed in their countries of origin".
Immediately in London, a way was thought of to reopen the Hellenic-British legal prize. A spokesman for the government of Boris Johnson was quick to point out that the draft is still in the definition phase and has ruled out that the famous marble recovered by Lord Elgin in the early 1800s could fall within the negotiations with the EU.
