(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 19 - On the night of February 18, the street artist Laika returned to the wall surrounding Villa Ada, in Rome, a few steps from the Embassy of Egypt, for a "second act" of his work on the hug between Giulio Regeni and Zaky, the student still detained in prison in Egypt, who had been removed by an "unknown hand".
"After the removal, many asked me to reattach the work - explains the artist - but the beauty of the road is just that: the works become living organisms in continuous evolution and, as such, they can change". And so it was.
Laika wanted to represent the exact moment of the tearing of the poster by the mysterious "someone": but behind the image there is not a void, but a sea of people who fasent their voices for the release of Patrick. "We are all of us," he says.
In the new work, in fact, we see a shadow whose manipulation embraces Regeni and Zaky and finds us under the image of a group of people, headed by the poster-artist with mask and red helmet of order, holding in his hand yellows with "Free Patrick" written on them. "I wanted to understand that no one can reduce us to silence, that a drawing can be torn - he underlines - but that behind it there will always be someone ready to shout out loud. All in all, the anonymity who removed the poster did a favor and everyone: had shown that together we can change things. " (HANDLE).
