(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 19 - The further step of the beautification operation put in place by the Indian government to hide poverty and ugliness during the visit of US President Trump will be the introduction of fresh water into the Yamuna river in Agra. The river, which flows behind the Taj Mahal, is extremely polluted and smelly. The State Irrigation Department of UttarPradesh has decided to introduce over 14,150 liters of clean water (500 cusec) to improve its conditions: the water will enter Yamuna from a nearby dam, tomorrow in Mathura, it will reach Agra on February 21 two days before Trump's visit. The Department has warned the population that even if the oxygen level will improve the quality of the river, reducing the unbearable odor, the water will remain non-potable. Also in Agra, the shops around the Taj Mahal have all been repainted with the same color, the streets watered to clean them of dust.
