WE WERE THERE - Back home, the most listened French artist in the world electrified 40,000 fans. With very electro tracks and more popular hits.

"We're playing at home tonight, don't put me to shame . " Saturday night, La Défense Arena in Paris looked like Place de l'Étoile. The same place where, in 2017, DJ Snake sat at the top of the Arc de Triomphe for an exceptional set. A unique monument projected at the beginning and end of the show, which alone should reflect the man and the career.

Behind his turntables, the musician, William Grigahcine of his real name, sold out in the temple of Racing Metro 92. 40,000 people came to jump on the "drops" of Turn Down For What , Lean On or Magenta Riddim . Songs that have dedicated DJ Snake to the highest level, continuing the French tradition of electronic music artists, in the tradition of Daft Punk, Bob Sinclar or David Guetta.

If he now spends more time in the United States collaborating with the biggest - Tyga, Sean Paul, Cardi B ... - his love for France and mainly for the capital is palpable. "Here is it?" , launches DJ Snake throughout the show. "Paris!" , answers the Arena in chorus. Occasionally, Marseillaises trumpeted loudly are heard in the pit.

Right in the "wall of death"

Seen from above, the impressive human tide which ripples, jumps and jostles would make any agoraphobic tremble. “With my team, we asked ourselves the question. We were wondering if it was really responsible for doing that ... " confesses DJ Snake. "But am I responsible?" , he continues. "That" is the "Wall of Death". Running during concerts, the practice consists in dividing the hall in two, creating an empty space in the middle, then asking the two parts of the audience to return to their places. They were many brave (or unconscious?) To have taken up this challenge.

If DJ Snake knows how to delight true fans of electronics, he offers as much to those who prefer his more popular titles. This eclecticism is not the result of chance. The boy is talented and seeing him fidgeting on his control table overturns the myth that a disc jockey only has to plug in a USB key and press "play". Leaving from afar, the artist takes the time to thank all those without whom "he would not be there" . Cut Killer in mind. True legend of the genre, he is the one who gave Snake a chance.

"You saw me in your rotten evenings. You saw me in your MJC ( Maison des jeunes et de la culture, Editor's note ). You saw me in shit. And today if we do that, it's a revenge on all those who said that it was not possible. Believe in your dreams, ”he says, moved. Before sending his most unifying hymns. Taki Taki , Loco Contigo and Let Me Love You , his featuring with Justin Bieber, to conclude the evening. "Almost two hours of set, get ready," he announced on Twitter a few days before the show. Promise largely kept.
