(ANSA) - BERLIN, FEBRUARY 23 - Around 1.3 million Germans are called to the polls today in Hamburg. In the Hanseatic city-state, the Greens have been governing for 5 years together with Social Democrats, who express Peter Tschentscher, the mayor who succeeded Olaf Scholz three years ago (called algoverno as deputy chancellor of Merkel IV).
To mark the election campaign was the duel between the two partners currently in government, SPD and ecologists.
According to the polls, the Social Democrats, who defend one of their strongholds here, are in clear advantage, with a consensus that ranges from 37% to 39%. Greens rank second, with 23-24% of preferences. Follow the CDU with 12%, Linkecon with 8. Afd's ultra-right would have 6% and FDP liberties would have 5%. The elections in Hamburg, which with 1.85 million inhabitants and where 16-year-olds also vote, is the second largest city in Germany, and are the only ones scheduled for the Laender at this year.
